Age of Onset	Onset typically before age 2 for children and between 25 and 75 years old for adults.
Description	Cutaneous mastocytosis is caused when too many mast cells accumulate in the skin. It is not an autoimmune disease, but a disease of the immune system, specifically mast cells. Mast cells transport histamine, which is involved in allergic responses. When mastocytosis is not limited to the skin, it is called systemic mastocytosis, and is a more severe form of the disease.
